Biography
singer of the band Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi is a hard rock band from the United
States, founded in 1984. Bon Jovi is a very famous American singer. He’s the
lead singer of the rock band Bon Jovi. His real name is John Francis Bongiovi
Jr. and was born on March 2nd, 1962, in Perth Amboy, in New Jersey,
USA. When he was a teenager, John became interested in music and learned to
play songs from Elton John on piano, acoustic and electric guitar. When he
reached adolescence, John founded his first band, called Raze. Sometime later,
he formed a blues cover band called Atlantic City Expressway rythm'n, who
played in clubs in New Jersey. At this time, John also played in another band
called Jon Bon Jovi and the Wild Ones. John worked in temporary jobs. One was
in the studio recording of his cousin, Tony Bongiovi who produced the first
officially recorded music by John: R2-D2
We Wish You a Merry Christmas. The song was part of a disc of Christmas
songs inspired by the movie Star Wars. John began sending his music to
various labels, but none of them was interested in his work.

The situation changed in 1983. In a musical competition promoted by a
New York radio, WAAP 103.5 FM, John
competed with Runaway. The song was
recorded with musicians of the band The All Star Review and won the competition,
becoming a hit in the summer of 1983. When looking to start a band, John called
his friend David Bryan, who recommended two names: bassist Alec John Such, and
drummer Tico Torres. Alec, in return, recommended guitarist Richie Sambora. By
this time, the rock band was called Jon Bon Jovi. The band was Jon Bon Jovi
(vocals, guitar), Richie Sambora (lead guitar and backing vocals), Tico Torres
(drums) and David Bryan (keyboards). The band had Alec John Such as the
official bassist, but he left the group in 1994. He was never replaced and the
band continued as a quartet. Also in 1983, the group opened a show for the band
Scandal. In the audience, the Polygram record label executive, Derek Schulman,
liked the band and signed a contract with them.
On April 29, 1989, Jon married his girlfriend from
school days, Dorothea Hurley. In early 1990, with the end of the tour of New
Jersey, the group was exhausted and decided to stop for a while. A curiosity: this time, Jon was approached by
the actor Emilio Estevez, who wanted to use the song Wanted Dead or Alive in the movie Young Guns II, which narrates the
life of the Old West gangster for the nineteenth century, Billy the Kid. So he did a
solo project, the soundtrack for Young Guns II, which also had the participation
of guitarist Jeff Beck and singers Little Richard and Elton John, bassist
Randy Jackson (ex Jackson Five) and the composer Alan Silvestri. In music, it
was evident the allure of the Old West by Jon. The second son of Jon and
Dorothea was even baptized as Jesse James, the same name as a famous outlaw of
the Old West. Jon was in the film as an extra: he was one of the prisoners from
the prison where Billy the Kid was incarcerated.
In 1992, the band reunited and released the album Keep the Faith, adopting a new look with
shorter hair and flirting with electronic music. The album marked the desire to
tune into the new music scene in the 1990s band. But the romantic songs
continued to be the main proposal, as proved the most successful song of the album, Bed of Roses. The latest album from the
band is What About Now
(2007), a disc with clear influences from country style but without leaving aside the rock. Bon Jovi bet this formula after making history in the United States, with a single from his previous album, Have A Nice Day (2005). The song 'Who Says You Can’t Go Home' was the first song by a rock band to conquer the top of the country charts in the United States. Owner of the football team "Philadelphia Soul", Jon is a generous philanthropist, offering liberal support for "The Soul Foundation Jon Bon Jovi" and other charitable groups such as the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity.
